Fans of “The Pitt” can soon rejoice: Mel and Langdon’s reunion will surprise everyone at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital in Season 2.
“For Mel, he’s someone that she meets on her first shift and she finds she really relates to him,” Taylor Dearden, who plays Mel in the HBO Max drama, told Variety during the Warner Bros. Television Group’s 77th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominees Celebration. “She’s only known Langdon for one day, but he makes such a massive impact on her, and then he’s gone. In Season 2, he’s back after 10 months, and she has no idea where he’s been or why he was gone for so long.”
After Langdon was kicked out of the hospital by Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) after it was revealed that he had been stealing medical narcotics throughout Season 1, Season 2 will begin 10 months later, set to take place on the Fourth of July weekend. Throughout Season 1, Mel and Langdon form a bond throughout the long day, often confiding in each other their inner thoughts and struggles, before he mysteriously disappears towards the end of Mel’s shift.
“Langdon really helps Mel throughout her first shift and even after he leaves the hospital, she still has no idea what happened to him,” revealed Patrick Ball, who plays Langdon. “In Season 1, Mel needs Langdon to get through her shift, but Langdon might need her more than he thinks he does in Season 2.”
Season 2 of “The Pitt” is set to introduce new nurses and patients working alongside Dr. Robby and the other members of the hospital. Actress Supriya Ganesh teased a pivotal plot point that will take place throughout the weekend shift. “Without saying too much, there’s a scene that involves a baby in Season 2. You can only film with babies for 20 minutes, and it’s just so incredibly chaotic.”
